Hello and Welcome!
My name is Jessica and my family and I started this blog because we noticed so many parents are afraid to talk with their kids about money. We want to give you some topics and ways to chat with your kids whether they are two or twenty-two.
I grew up in a house that was somewhat open about money. I watched my dad balance the checkbook and enter every expense into his ledger. Yes, and actual ledger! As I went through high school and college, I always worked and knew that, no matter what, I would learn how to be responsible with money.
When I got married, my husband and I realized we had similar ideas about money, but I was the one that controlled the financial aspect of our household. We combined our finances because I firmly believe that as a family, everything is shared, but I took care of the administrative duties. No, I do not have a ledger!
When our kids were born, we decided that we would help them in any way possible. This includes giving them some things, but no EVERYTHING. Now they are in their very early teens and beginning to ask some great questions about money. Therefore, we decided to share those questions and answers with everybody.
We hope that you find value in our family money conversations and that you too will find it “OK to talk about money” with your family!
